2011 HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES



2011 INDUCTEES

Congratualtions to the following individuals who have been selected as the 2011 Inductees.



These individuals will be honored at a Hall of Fame Reception as part of the 2011 Alumni Weekend Celebrations, Friday July 29th, 2011 at 4:30pm at the Eden American Legion as well as part of the Dinner, Saturday July 20th, at Duffy Hall.

Kevin Sturm
Class of 1975


Kevin Sturm Kevin was a 3-sport athlete while at Eden - football, basketball and baseball, earning 5 varsity letters. He was co-captain of both football and basketball in his senior year. In football, he led the team in tackles in tackles and assists for two seasons. Kevin was a division all-star defensive back. In his senior season the team was division co-champs and had an undefeated season. In basketball, Kevin set a single season and career assist record and was a division honorable mention all-star. Kevin received the Babe Ruth Award and an athletic scholarship award. He was a well-rounded student athlete who was involved in all aspects of school life including the school musicals, Eden’s representative to Boys’ State, a member of National Honor Society and valedictorian of his class. Kevin attended the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and a member of the United States Olympic Team Handball Team. Kevin currently resides in Virginia with his wife and 5 children where he is involved in coaching youth sports.


John Warner
Class of 1979


John Warner John was a 3-sport athlete – Cross-Country, Swimming and Track – excelling in all 3, earning 10 varsity letters in his high school career and was captain of all 3 in his senior year. John was named Athlete of the year in 1979. He played varsity golf as a freshman before moving to cross-country where he was the number one runner for Eden for 31 straight meets starting in his sophomore year. John was division all-star his junior and senior years and was awarded Eden’s MVP award as a senior. John qualified for sectionals all 3 years. In swimming, John was Eden’s number one swimmer in the 200/500 freestyle events and qualified for sectionals in his junior and senior seasons. In track, John was Eden’s top distance runner and qualified for sectional competition in his sophomore, junior and senior seasons. He was undefeated in the mile his senior year within the division. His time of 4:41 was number one in ECIC division IV. After high school, John served in the United States Navy and continued to run competitively including multiple marathons. He is also a certified United States Soccer Referee. John is married to Eden graduate, Barb Nedimyer and they have 2 children, Evan and Megan. John and Barb currently live and work in Reston, Virginia where John is an air traffic controller but they have plans to move back to their Eden home when when they are ready again for the calm of the country.


Christine Sitarek Buck
Class of 1986


Christine Sitarek Buck Chris was a 4-sport athlete earning 12 varsity letters in field hockey, volleyball, basketball and track. She was the recipient of the Kay Palmer Award as a senior. A highlight of her field hockey career was earning 2 hat tricks in one week’s competition. Chris was a top rebounder in basketball. In track, she was a 100-meter hurdler and held the school record. Additionally, Chris placed 4th in ECIC pentathlon competition. Chris’s top sport was volleyball where she played middle blocker and earned a full scholarship to Villa Maria College where she was named a Penn-York All-star as middle blocker. Currently, Chris and her husband live in Niagara Falls. She is the mother of two children, is a licensed esthetician and works as a massage therapist.




John Wilczewski
Class of 1992


John Wilczewski John was a 3-sport athlete earning 8 Varsity letters in volleyball, basketball and baseball and Athlete of the Year honors in 1992. In 1991, John was a member of Eden Volleyball's State Championship team and also captained the Gold Medal winning Western Team at the Empire State Games. In his senior season, John captained the Raiders to the Class B final and was voted All-WNY 1st team. In basketball, he played 3 years on the varsity squad and was a 1st team division all-star in his senior season. On the baseball diamond, John was a member of the varsity team for 3 seasons and was captain of the undefeated 1992 team. John attended Allegheny College where he played baseball and helped start that school's club volleyball team. John is a software engineer at HSBC Bank and currently resides in Elma with his son Gavin. In his free time, John enjoys playing golf, volleyball, and ice hockey.


John Roney
Class of 1994


John Roney John was a 3-sport athlete earning 11 varsity letters in football, basketball and baseball. John was captain and Eden’s MVP of all 3 sports and Co-Athlete of the Year as a senior. In football, he earned all-star recognition for three years as the team's quarterback and as a senior he was WNY Offensive Player of the Year. In Basketball, John was a 1st team all-star for two consecutive years. In Baseball, John was an outstanding catcher with an accurate throwing arm. He earned all-star recognition as a senior. John, his wife, Jodi and 5-year old daughter currently reside in Lackawanna. John is a service manager for Trugreen Lawncare and plays slow pitch softball.




Elizabeth Feldman Palomino
Class of 1994


Elizabeth Feldman Palomino Liz was a 3-sport athlete - volleyball, basketball and softball earning 14 varsity letters. She excelled in all 3 sports and played varsity in volleyball and basketball while still in junior high school. She earned All-State honors in volleyball and was captain of all 3 sports in her senior year. Liz was a member of Eden’s first State Championship Team - the 1996 Girls Volleyball Team! She played volleyball at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she was the first libero on full scholarship. During her 4 years as a Tarheel, the team earned two ACC titles and three trips to the NCAA tournament. Liz earned All-ACC 1st team honors, twice was the ACC Defensive Player of the Year, and co-captained the team her senior year. Liz currently resides in Chicago, with her husband, and is employed as the Vice President of Sales for Interclick, a technology company headquartered in New York.


Jonathan Dolinar
Class of 1999


Jonathan Dolinar Jon was a 4-sport athlete earning 9 varsity letters in football, basketball and baseball and in varsity wrestling for two years while in junior high school. Jon was Eden’s Athlete of the Year in 1999. He was captain of the division championship football team. In Basketball, Jon held the foul shot record. In Baseball, Jon was team captain and the team earned division championships all 3 of his varsity seasons. Jon played Division 1 baseball at the University of Buffalo and had professional tryouts with the Atlanta Braves and Cleveland Indians. He has stayed involved in competitive sports, and is now an avid golfer. Jon is an architect and lives with his wife Tricia and two children Jonathan Jr. and Madison in New Holland Pennsylvania, hoping his career will bring him back to Eden in the near future.




Diana (Wierzba) Mathis
Class of 2001


Diana (Wierzba) Mathis Diana played volleyball and softball earning 6 varsity letters. She was Eden’s Athlete of the Year in 2001. In volleyball, Diana was an ECIC first team All-Star and All WNY all 3 varsity seasons. Additionally, she was selected 1st Team All-State two times and Co-NYS Player of the Year as a senior. The volleyball teams while Diana was a member were 3 time ECIC Division Champs, two time section VI and Far West Regional Champs and NYS Champions in 2000. Diana broke all team records in kills, digs and hitting efficiency. In softball, Diana was a 3-year starter at various positions and a two time 1st team ECIC all-star. As a senior, Diana led the team in runs, RBI’s, hits total on-base percentage and stolen bases. Her batting average was over .400 every year. Diana received an athletic scholarship to Siena College for volleyball. As a senior, she was named team captain and MAAC Offensive Player of the Week and a 4-year member of the MAAC All-Academic Team. Currently, Diana lives in North Collins with her husband, Ryan and works as an accountant. She plays in various co-ed softball and volleyball leagues in the southtowns.
