The 1996 Girls’ Volleyball team was the first Eden girls’ team to win a State Championship. The State Championship Team didn't happen in one season; it took years of building, training, coaching, and believing. The girls on the team had played together for a minimum of 3 to 4 years and often year -round. They weren't necessarily the tallest, fastest, or even the most impressive natural athletes; but they were a TEAM. Each girl spent hours perfecting her game to insure they would win. This was a team filled with confidence.

Coach Patty Wilson was the ultimate in believing that the team could achieve their goal of the State title. Assistant Coach Stephen Pierce brought a new level of discipline and innovative drills that took them to the next level. This team’s success paved the way for the future of the Lady Raider's volleyball program. Eden is rich in tradition of great volleyball teams and great female athletes.

There have been superstars on each team, but in the end it hasn't been one person that carried these championship teams. It has been the willpower, determination, and dedication to teammates that made them champions.
